In relation to the threat posed by the Coronavirus in the UK, it is our hope that we will not be affected and we will be able to work as normal throughout. We are taking every sensible precaution to protect ourselves and our customers from any infection and taking heed of Government advice whilst monitoring the situation on a daily basis. None of our staff or their families have recently travelled to those areas considered as “hot spots”.
Cancellations from Davis & Mac –
There are two possibilities we believe we should have a plan for. The first is that one of our staff could somehow be exposed to the virus, resulting in a possible quarantine for other team members.
In this scenario, we would immediately make contact with our customers explaining the position. We would look to colleagues in the moving industry to help cover booked work, or we would offer a full refund for any work we could not undertake.
The second scenario would be Government intervention on how we can work and travel, we would then have to follow the rules that are imposed at that time.
Our contract makes provision for us to be able to sub contract, however we would always consult with our customer first. In the event that we are unable to fulfil any contract due to the Virus, then our liability would be limited to a refund for any work not completed. We would not accept any other liability for other costs incurred as a result of us being unable to complete the contracted work.
Cancellations from clients –
We appreciate that some clients want to cancel moves already booked in as a safety precaution. Until any travel bans or government restrictions are put in place in the UK, our standard cancellation policy is effective. We are looking at this on a job by job basis and trying to be as reasonable as possible.
Clients responsibilities throughout a move
The risk is a two way street and we would ask any of our customers that have concerns for their own health or have visited an “at risk area” that they tell us, so we can plan the move or delivery accordingly.
We have put extra hygiene processes in place and would ask clients to help us follow the below throughout a job.
1 – On arrival, no handshaking or physical contact between team members and clients
2 – A sink made available with soap, warm water and tissues/kitchen roll for the team to
thoroughly wash hands as soon as they arrive/before they start working.
3 – Regular access to water/soap/hand towels throughout the day.
The team will follow other heightened hygiene processes when dealing with the vehicle alongside the above.
